PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin film of a definite configuration molecular aggregate composed of a molecular aggregate containing a polypeptide chain having the primary structure of a polypeptide and a controlled orientation of the macro- dipole. SOLUTION: The thin film of a definite configuration molecular aggregate is composed of a self-organized monomolecular film containing a polypeptide chain having a polymerization degree of >=10 and produced by the successive polymerization of amino acids on the molecular terminal enabling the solid-phase polymerization of amino acids constituting the self-organized monomolecular film formed on the surface of a substrate, especially a polypeptide chain having an orientedα-helix structure.
