PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize a retaining condition of a terminal fittings. SOLUTION: A cavity is installed in a housing wherein the terminal fittings is capable of being inserted, and a lance 26 to retain the terminal fittings by preventing slipping off is installed at the lower face side of the cavity. The lance 26 has an arm part 27 of a cantilever state enabled to flexibly deform along the height direction, and a locking part 28 to protrude in the cavity from the front end neighborhood of the arm part 27, and enabled to be engaged with the terminal fittings. A pair of inversion regulating parts 38 positioned at both sidewards of the lance 26 is installed at the bottom end of the peripheral wall of the cavity. The inversion regulating parts 38 are formed in a taper state wherein the inner brim is gradually more separated from the lance 26 as the lance goes from the upper end to the bottom end. An engaging part 39 is protruded and installed at both side faces of the arm part 27 so as to approach the inversion regulating part 38. In case a force to displace the lance 26 in the upper direction reverse to bending direction in insertion against the lance 26, the inversion action of the lance 26 is regulated by engaging the engaging part 39 with the inversion regulating part 38.
