The knitted article (1) has a supporting section (2) made from a single thickness of material and using a technique that prevents its edge from rolling. The supporting section is knitted from two different yarns (A, B), the first wound in a number of simple weft turns, blocked by the knitted stitches of the second. The first yarn is taken round every second needle, with the second yarn knitted on the same needles and a third yarn (C) is knitted on the needles not used by the second one.
