PURPOSE: A protocol gateway system for supporting interworking between mutually different network management systems is provided to enable a manager based on CMIP(Common Management Information Protocol), SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol), CORBA(Common Object Request Broker Architecture) and HTTP(Hyper Text Transfer Protocol) to mutually communicate with a management agent based on CMIP and SNMP, regardless of protocol types. CONSTITUTION: An object manager(101) collects management objects from a management agent to generate a containment tree, and stores location information of the corresponding objects in an object information repository(105). If a command performing request for a management object is received from a manager, the object manager(101) searches management objects by referring to the generated containment tree and combines location information of the management agent and the manager to store the combined information in a connection information repository(104). A PDU(Protocol Data Unit) generator(103) generates a PDU to transmit a result of the command performance. A protocol dispatcher(106) analyzes the PDU, for conversion to a command system which the object manger(101) commonly applies to deliver the command system to the object manager(101). An event handler(107) receives an event message generated from the management agent through the protocol dispatcher(106) to process the received message. And a multi protocol stack(108) discriminates a protocol on which the received message is based and divides the message into a command and data.
