PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rental digital camera system that a user can comfortably use. SOLUTION: A controller is provided which has software necessary for functioning hardware of a digital camera and a rental control means of the software for the digital camera. Rental software provides a radio control signal from the controller, or is software itself with a limit. Contents of the software are determined in accordance with rental conditions. A transmission of the control signal or a function of the software itself is stopped by a termination of a rental. The digital camera itself of the hardware only is bought in and the software is rented. In the capable executing digital camera arithmetic addition and readout with an electronic zoom on a tele-side, the arithmetic addition and readout is stopped and the number of pixels is increased.
