PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an aqueous ink composition which has excellent dispersibility in a water system, high printing density and printing quality, quick-drying properties, excellent abrading resistance, fixing properties and yet can provide a recorded article having excellent water resistance and light resistance and chemical resistance. SOLUTION: This aqueous ink composition comprises a microcapsulated colorant obtained by dispersing a water-insoluble colorant in the presence of a polymer azo initiator containing a repeating unit represented by general formula (I) [D is a part containing a hydrophobic segment; L<1> and L<2> are each the same or different linker group; R<1> , R<2> , R<3> and R<4> are each a 1-4C alkyl group or a cyano group; n is an integer of >=1] and a vinyl-based polymerizable dispersant under conditions not to activate the initiator and activating the initiator in the resulting dispersion to polymerize the polymerizable dispersant. |
