SOLUTION: In the optical transmitter having a light emitting unit 1 and a light receiving unit 2, the light emitting unit 1 is provided with a light emitting circuit 6 and an optical axis X-Z operating circuit 7 for vertically and horizontally swinging and controlling the emission angle of laser light and the light receiving unit 2 is provided with a light receiving circuit 12, a received light quantity detecting circuit 13 for detecting the amplitude value of a waveform in a quantity of received light, a peak light quantity detecting circuit 14 for detecting a peak value from the detected amplitude value, extracting and storing a maximum value, a sub peak light quantity detecting circuit 15 for detecting the lower limit value of the amplitude value from the peak value, and a comparator circuit 16 for comparing the maximum value of the amplitude and the lower limit value and transmitting an optical axis matching signal when the detected amplitude value is settled within the range.
