PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an orange peel wax as a natural wax useful as an agent for protecting the skin and the hair and an agent for improving feel and a cosmetic containing the same. SOLUTION: This orange peel wax is a soft wax obtained from orange peel after separation of an essential oil and orange terpene, is composed of a complicated mixture of a specific ester, free alcohol, free sterol, free fatty acid and hydrocarbon. The orange peel wax contains further small amounts of a flavonoid, a carotenoid, a glycolipid and a phospholipid and has <=60 deg.C melting point and >=30 deg.C freezing point. This cosmetic is an agent for protecting the skin and the hair or an agent for improving feel, which comprises 0.05-50 wt.% of the orange peel wax and is in the form of a solution, emulsion, gel, wax or aerosol.
