<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal melting technology for easily manufacturing an alloy having a uniform composition by using a water-cooled hearth. SOLUTION: In a process for melting a metal by using the water cooled hearth, which disposes a metal sample to be melted in a recess formed in the water cooled hearth, and gives heat to it by a heating means to melt the metal sample in the recess, this method includes making the form of the recess to be a long groove, forming a flowable melted zone and an unmelted zone in the metal sample, by arranging the metal sample on an end side of the long groove and melting a part of it by the heating means, and melting the metal sample while moving it to the other end side by making the melted zone flow to the other end side of the long groove.</p> |
