PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a key switch device for holding a key top at an operating position when key operation is carried out, and holding the key top at a non- operating position lower than the operating position when carried, whereby the device is further thinned and lightened to enhance portability. SOLUTION: When a slide plate 32 is moved, a leaf spring 31 integrally formed with the slide plate 32 is gradually detached from the base portion 14 of a first link member 7, a first link member 7 and a second link member 8 of a guide support member 3 urged upwardly by the elastic force of the leaf spring 31 are mutually folded through a pivot 9 and a pivot supporting hole 19, and the height of the key top 2 is gradually lowered. When the base portion 14 of the first link member 7 is completely detached from the leaf spring 31, the first link member 7 and the second link member 8 are completely folded and mounted on a circuit board 6. At the same time, the height of the key top 2 becomes lowest in a state of no elastic force applied.
