PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display device are provided to minimize motion blurring generated in moving pictures by displaying black data right after displaying video data. CONSTITUTION: A first gate driving part successively supplies scan pulses to first gate lines(G1-Gm) of a liquid crystal panel in response to a first gate start pulse(GSP1). While the first gate lines are being scanned, a driving part supplies video data to data lines and liquid cells charge video data voltage by turning on a first thin film transistor. A second gate driving part successively supplies scan pulses to second gate lines(GX1-GXm) of the liquid crystal panel in response to a second gate start pulse(GSP2). As a result, black data start to be scanned while the video data are supplied, and are scanned on a whole screen. While the second gate lines are scanned, the black data generated from a black data generating part are filled up the liquid cell via black data lines by turning on a second thin film transistor.
