PURPOSE: A method for detecting an optimum recording power in an optical disc device is provided to detect the optimum power by randomly selecting several frames required for carrying out OPC(Optimum Power Control), thereby minimizing the time for carrying out the OPC and reducing the error rate. CONSTITUTION: A method for detecting an optimum recording power in an optical disc device includes the steps of randomly selecting the number of frames smaller than the number of frames allocated for a one-time test in a recording area for the process of detecting an optimum recording power in a predetermined information area of an optical disc(S18) to record test data by different recording optical power values per the selected frame(S20), reproducing the recorded test data, carrying out curve fitting by detecting the characteristics of the reproducing signals for the recording optical power values per the selected frame(S22), and detecting an optimum recording power in the fitted curved if the linear characteristics of the fitted curve is in a preset range. |
