PURPOSE: A part of speech tagging system and method is provided to unify a general dictionary with subject dictionaries, and to make it easy tagging words included in the subject dictionary by giving a weight value to the words included in the subject dictionary. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a sentence input module(1), a tagging module(2), a subject classification module(3), a dictionary storage(4), the first storage(5), the second storage(6), and a tagging result output module(7). The first storage(5) stores a general dictionary, and the second storage(6) stores plural subject dictionaries. The tagging module(2) performs a procedure of tagging a part of speech on each word included in the sentence, input via the sentence input module(1), by using the dictionary storage(4) in which each word is set with a corresponding part of speech. The subject classification module(3) classifies the words included in the sentence by using the tagging result.
