Flight crew members can trigger emergency signals at fixed points on board an aircraft if they notice terrorist action. This signal makes the cockpit crew aware of the action so that they can make decisions in good time. In extreme cases, a base station switches off manual control and steers the aircraft by remote control to the closest airfield.
