An aqueous air foam comprising a non-crosslinked cellulose ether selected from C1-C3-alkyl celluloses, C1-C3-alkyl hydroxy-C1-3-alkyl celluloses, hydroxy-C1-3-alkyl celluloses, or mixed hydroxy-C1-C3-alkyl celluloses, the foam having a foam quality FQ of from 60 to 97 percent and the foam quality being defined as FQ (%) = [air volume / (air volume + fluid volume) x 100].
