A portable computer with a touch sensitive screen includes computer aided design (CAD) software that complements CAD software on a main computer. Drawings from the main computer can be downloaded onto the portable computer, modified remotely, and then uploaded back to the main computer to reflect the drawings changes. In one embodiment, the device records data only when the user lifts a stylus from a touch sensitive screen, allowing the device to be used in physically unstable environments.
