First data is stored in memory. It represents set basic geometric shapes in terms of specific, permanent geometric parameters. These are allocated to each electronic component in a layout design. Second data stored, relates to useful geometric operations applied to the shapes, to form different geometric figures. The geometric parameters defining a basic form are invariant as a result of a geometric operation on this form. Independent claims are included for the corresponding method of making a layout for an integrated electronic circuit, and for a computer program used for this purpose.
