It has been found that in spite of the addition of gold pigment to a top foam layer of a packaging carton, which has other layers underneath it, no gold color can be observed, and because of the insensitivity of the gold pigment to moisture, the gold pigment containing packaging is very useful for the packaging of foodstuffs. The carton replacement material includes the layers: (A) a polyolefin foam as a base surface layer; (B) an adjoining olefin polymer layer, which is the main constituent of layer A; (C) a sealing and/or peelable second surface layer, where layer A and optionally layer B contains 1-10 wt.% of gold pigment is new. An Independent claim is also included or a packaging container prepared from the new carton replacement material.
