The invention relates to a deep fryer comprising a frying vessel (17) and at least one heating body (26) arranged in the frying vessel (17). The frying vessel receives a frying medium, for example frying fat or oil, which is optionally melted by the heating body and subsequently heated to a temperature of typically 100 - 200 °C, especially from 150 to190 °C. In known deep fryers, the frying vessel normally consists of metal, e.g. stainless steel, enameled steel or coated, uncoated or anodic oxidated aluminium. The inventive deep fryer is, however, characterized in that the frying vessel (17) is at least partially made of a transparent or see-through material which enables visual control of the frying process.
