Border for a skylight comprises a peripheral base frame (2) surrounding an opening and having a collar (3) protruding toward the plane of a roof, and an aligning frame (5) tightly connected to the base frame and having profiles (6) on the sides facing away from the collar for connecting to a roof profile. Brackets (7) provided on the under side of the aligning frame at least partly enclose the base-side edge (4) of the base frame. Preferred Features: The aligning frame is made of metal. The base-side edge of the base frame is held between the brackets and the under side of the aligning frame.
