The invention concerns a method for hydrocyanation of ethylenically unsaturated organic compounds into compounds comprising at least a nitrile function. The invention proposes a method for hydrocyanation of a hydrocarbon compound comprising at least an ethylenic unsaturation by reaction in a liquid medium with hydrogen cyanide in the presence of a catalyst comprising a metallic element selected among transition metals and an organophosphorous ligand. The invention is characterized in that the organophosphorous ligand is a phosphine, for example of the formulae below. The invention is in particular useful for synthesis of adiponitrile from butadiene.
