The invention concerns a device (24) for mechanically locking a mobile rod capable of taking up two stable positions. The invention is characterized in that it comprises two arms (48) articulated about an axis relative to said mobile rod whereof the bases (49) are locked in translation and at least a spring (52) tensioned between said two bases to maintain in stable manner said two arms in one or the other of the positions with an upward or downward inclination and a friction point for shifting from one to the other. The invention also concerns a battery main switch incorporating such a mechanically locking device.
