An apparatus for obtaining beverage from a packaged charge of brew ingredients (can be a coffee or a tea bag) comprises a receptacle 11 having a bottom wall, a hot liquid delivery inlet 27 extending into an upper region of said chamber and spaced a preselected distance above said bottom wall so as to allow the packaged charge of brew ingredient in a permeable expansible bag to be supported on the -bottom wall within said chamber and subjacent the delivery inlet 27 such that the bag will expand into sealed engagement with the said inlet upon being subjected to hot water delivered therethrough, and an outlet 12 from an upper region of the said chamber located to discharge therefrom brewed liquid obtained from an 'upside down' brewing operation therein. |
