The thread cutter (51) is arranged on a metal centering- and guidance plate (50), where it is positioned immediately adjacent to the thread interceptor (53) of the freely-rotating bobbin plate (52) on the spooling frame (9) in the relevant working location (2). Preferred features: The centering and guidance plate is moved into the working position using a thrust piston drive, where a centering gap of the guidance plate corresponds with a centering projection (55) on the spooling frame, hence positioning the thread cutter precisely. The thread cutter has a hooked, partly-open main body (56), into which a fixed cutter (57) is integrated. The cutter has a blade (58) inclined at 45 degrees in side view, towards the center of the main body. The centering and guidance plate carrying the thread cutter near a centering gap, has a further thread guidance gap.
