Exhaust gas purification process comprises feeding the I.C. engine exhaust gases to a NOx storage suitable for storing NOx from the exhaust gases under first operation conditions, and then releasing the stored NOx under second operation conditions for reduction. Under the second operation conditions ≤ 50% from the exhaust gas stream is blocked. The second operation conditions are achieved by a low charge, in shift phases, or in idle phases of the I.C. engine. The I.C. engine itself is also claimed. |
