<p>A computer-based method for monitoring the profitability of a product-producing manufacturing plant, comprises storing a first plurality of data items (e.g. conversion cost data, production line capacity data, and plant-level operating capacity data) as setup data 110, 112, 114; receiving a second plurality of data items (e.g. customer data, product data, production data, sales data, profit/loss data, and target profit data) as input data associated with a plurality of time periods 120; calculating a plurality of profitability measures 130; and outputting the measures to a user 140. Projected performance measures associated with one or more proposed changes in production may be determined. In accordance with the real-time profitability measures and projected performance measures, pricing strategies, capital allocation priorities, asset utilization and manufacturing operations may be modified to enhance the profitability of the product-producing manufacturing plant.</p> |
