摘要 PURPOSE: A liquid crystal display device having a metal layer for preventing light leakage is provided to prevent light leakage to a data line area in the case that black matrix is erroneously arranged. CONSTITUTION: A gate electrode(103) receiving a scanning signal from a gate line and a metal layer(107) for cutting off light transmission are formed at a TFT forming area and a data line forming area on a glass substrate(120). A gate insulating layer(122) is formed on the substrate, so that the gate electrode and the metal layer cover the gate insulating layer. A semiconductor layer(108) is formed on the TFT forming area and is activated according to the signal applied to the gate electrode. Source and drain electrodes(105) are formed on the semiconductor layer. A data line(106) is arranged on the gate insulating layer of the data line forming area to apply an image signal to the source and drain electrodes. The width of the metal layer is almost equal to a gap between pixel electrodes(110) of neighboring liquid cells, so that the metal layer completely covers the gap between the data line and the pixel electrodes.
