<p>Red-emitting phosphor composn. consists of particles of a red-emitting phosphor each of which is almost completely surrounded by a coating layer of cadmium sulphoselenide, which is an almost continuous film forming a red-transmitting filter layer around the phosphor particles, almost no inter diffusion occurring between the coating layer and the phosphor. Pref. an alkali metal (esp. Li, Na or K) layer prevents inter diffusion. A protecting layer, pref. of PVA protects the particles. Phosphor is pref. an Eu- activated rare earth phosphor esp. Gd or Y oxide, Gd, La or Y oxysulphide. Pigment has very high clarity/reflection ratio.</p> |
