<p>The procedure includes calculating discrete transformations (1,2,4) of the segment of video data (11,12) and concatenated segments of video data (13). This is followed by calculating (5) a block artefact level (17) from the contents of the transformed video segments (14,15,16). <??>The procedure provides detection of block artefacts (10) from video coded data which is then decoded using a block coding method. The procedure includes the stages of calculating a first discrete transformation (1) of a first segment of video data (11), and calculating a second discrete transformation (2) of a second segment of video data (12), the second segment being adjacent to the first. A further calculation is performed for a discrete transformation (4) of a concatenated segment of video data (13) corresponding to the concatenation (3) of the first and second segments. There is also a stage of calculating (5) a block artefact level (17) from the contents of the first and second transformed video segments (14,15) and from the concatenated video segment (16).</p> |
