The single-use sensor quantifying nitrite content of water comprises a polyester sheet with a central circular film forming the active zone of the sensor. Color change from colorless to violet-red on introduction into the problem solution indicates the nitrite concentration on absorption of radiation at 543 nanometer wavelength.
