The synthesis and the use of a series of carboplatin analogs is disclosed. These carboplatin analogs may be represented by cis-Pt(II)L1L2, wherein each of L1 and L2, independently, is the carboxylate of phosphatidylserine, an alpha-amino acid, a beta-amino acid, or a derivative thereof, wherein each ligand is bidentate with -NH2 and -COO- as the binding sites. The complexes can be used in the treatment of cancer.
