PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain used tea leaf powder useful as a food additive, inexpensively producible and having a small amount of tannin as an astringent taste component and caffeine as a bitter component and a large amount of a delicious taste component of free amino acid and theanine. SOLUTION: This used tea leaf powder is obtained by dehydrating using e.g. a centrifugal separator used tea leaves after extracting tea therefrom, drying the resultant product by irradiating far infrared radiation with a far- infrared irradiation device or exposing it to sunshine, and pulverizing the resultant product. The powder contains a large amount of an effective component of tea leaves such as free amino acid and theanine. |
