PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flit glass coating apparatus and a flit glass coating method capable of properly applying a flit glass suspension even if the flit glass suspension in a tank is changed in viscosity. SOLUTION: The flit glass coating apparatus is provided with a tank 1 for storing a flit glass suspension and to which a pressurized gas is supplied, a nozzle 2 for spraying the flit glass suspension stored in the tank 1, a shutter 3 for opening or closing a spraying outlet of the nozzle 2, a pressure regulator 9 for adjusting the pressure of the pressurized gas to be supplied to the tank 1, and a robot mechanism 2 for transporting the tank 1. In the process of applying the flit glass suspension to a seal face 6, the tank 1 is transported above a plate 7 for viscosity measurement at every prescribed time and the spraying outlet is opened for a prescribed period to apply the flit glass substrate to the plate for the viscosity measurement.
