PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a treatment which prevent exudation of an active constitu ent from a wood material impregnated for a considerably long time with a nontoxic organism of a higher grade than a microorganism while protecting a treated material from deterioration by the microorganism, and which maintains effectively the dimensional stability and the surface perfection of the treated wood material. SOLUTION: The treating method of the wood material comprises (a) to provide the impregnated wood material by bringing it into contact with a water- based treating solution containing an iron salt and an oxidant and (b) to separate the impregnated wood material from the water-based treating solution.
