PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating method which can be applied to an off-line coat on a traveling film or an in-line coat in a manufacturing step of a film and in which deposited foreign matters are not generated by coating the film with a coating liquid in which concentration of nucleus such as bacteria included in the coating liquid is reduced. SOLUTION: In this coating method wherein an aqueous coating liquid is fed and applied on at lest one surface of a traveling plastic film by a coating liquid feeding device, it is characterized by providing a means for filtering water at a stage for formulating the coating liquid, filtration accuracy of the filtering means being 0.1-3μm and using water filtered by the filtering means for formulation of the coating liquid.
