<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a blood pressure determining apparatus with which a highest blood pressure value is determined without giving much pain to a patient. SOLUTION: An average blood pressure value BP (MEAN) is determined based on a cuff pulse wave CW detected in the process of slowly raising cuff pressure Pc. when determining the average blood pressure value BP (MEAN), the cuff pressure Pc is lowered to a pulse wave detection pressure PM lower than a lowest blood pressure value BP (DIA) to detect the cuff pulse wave CW by the pulse wave detection pressure PM to determine the lowest pulse wave value Imin, an area centroid pulse wave value Ig and the highest pulse wave value Imax of the cuff pulse wave. Then, based on the fact that the lowest pulse wave value Imin, the area centroid pulse wave value Ig and the highest pulse wave value Imax correspond respectively to the lowest blood pressure value BP (DIA)m, the average blood pressure value BP (MEAN) and a highest blood pressure value BP (SYS), the highest blood pressure value BP (SYS) is determined from formula 1. (formula 1) (Imax-Imin):(Ig-Imin)= BP(SYS)-BP(DIA)}: BP(MEAN)-BP(DIA)}.</p> |
