PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink cartridge detector which can surely detect not only the presence/absence of an ink cartridge, but also its setting state. SOLUTION: There are provided a first visual recognition part 25 and a judging part. The first visual recognition part 25 is set to a fixing lever 21 for fixing the ink cartridge to a carriage and has a plurality of reflecting faces for reflecting light irradiated from a sensor by a predetermined angle. The judging part receives a detecting signal from the sensor which receives a reflecting light of the light applied to the first visual recognition part 25, and judges based on the detected contents whether or not the ink cartridge is fixed to the carriage in a proper state. |
