A bactericidal disinfectant and an antibacterial drug each characterized by containing a cationic polymer represented by the general formula [1]; and a method of obtaining an antibacterial material with the bactericidal disinfectant. In the formula, R1 is C1-4 alkly or hydroxyalkyl or C2-4 alkenyl; R2 is C2-10 alkylene; R3 is C2-6 heteroalkylene or hydroxylated heteroalkylene; A- is an anion; and n is 40 to 500. [1] The bactericidal disinfectant, antibacterial drug, and antibacterial material are free from skin troubles such as skin irritation, redness, skin chapping, and skin sensitization, have effective bactericidal and antibacterial effects even in a low concentration, and are highly effective against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
