PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a member for a washer-sterilizer having peracetic acid ESC (environmental stress cracking) resistance and a method for testing its material. SOLUTION: The member for a washer-sterilizer is provided using a plastic material with peracetic acid ESC resistance characterized in that it does not break for 2,500 hours or more in a solution of peracetic acid of 2,000 ppm under a stress of 9.8 N/mm<2> or more. Preferably, the plastic material is selected from the group including polyamideimide, polyetheretherketone, polyethylene terephthalate, and polyvinylidene fluoride. A testing method for peracetic acid ESC resistance includes forming the member into a testpiece being narrow at its center, securing the testpiece at one end to the lower part of a container holding the solution of peracetic acid and to a weight at the other, dipping the testpiece in the solution, and measuring breaking time until the testpiece breaks. |
