PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dry laundry without yellowing even if unctuous dirt, such as cooking oil, is sticking to the laundry in a drying process with respect to a washer- dryer involving the process in which hot air is blown into the basket to dry laundry. SOLUTION: The basket 4 for housing laundry, having the central axis of rotation thereof substantially in the vertical direction, is rotatably supported in an outer bath 3 elastically suspended in a housing 1. Rotary vanes 6 are rotatably installed on the bottom of the basket 4. The basket 4 or the rotary vanes 6 are driven by a motor 8, and hot air heated by a heater 16 is blown into the basket 4 by a drying blower 15. The processes of washing, rinsing, dewatering, and drying are controlled by a controlling means. In the drying process, the controlling means receives a temperature signal from a first temperature detecting mans 35 for detecting the temperature of the outer bath 3 and controls the drying blower 15 and the heater 16 so that the temperature of the basket 4 is not higher than a specified temperature.
