PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) method for generating and identifying an MR image in which water and fat is separated from each other. SOLUTION: Image data are collected first and two echo images are obtained. The water and fat signals are orthogonal in the first echo image and they are parallel/antiparallel in the second echo image. By removing the nonuniformity of a background magnetic field, the images of the water and fat are separated from each other. The images of the water and fat are identified according to the difference in the frequencies of precession of the equinoxes.
