PURPOSE: A method for controlling an O2 sensor heater is provided to allow for activation of sensor at a low temperature and activation of close loop in a short time period. CONSTITUTION: A method comprises a first step(110) of permitting temperature rise to the temperature of 300 Deg.C during the initial engine start; a second step(120) of judging whether conditions for an early activation of close loop and conditions for exhaust test are satisfied; a third step(130) of judging whether a dew point ends, if conditions for exhaust test are not satisfied in the second step; a fourth step(140) of applying a full heating so as to permit temperature rise of heater and activation of sensor, if the dew point ends in the third step; a fifth step(150) of permitting activation of close loop by reducing the full heating duty to a heater control heating duty; and a sixth step(160) of determining a heating duty by using travel conditions and exhaust gas model temperature.
