PURPOSE: A universal joint prevents the enlargement of a leak due to wear and the generation of vibration or noise, and makes the productivity thereof good. CONSTITUTION: A universal joint comprises a hemispherical holder portion(4), a sliding ball(5), an elastic member(6), a sliding member(7), two shaft pins(8) and a stopper ring(9). The stopper ring(9) is assembled to a ring groove(42) of the holder portion(4) after the fitting of the sliding ball(5) where the sliding member(7) is assembled into the holder portion(4). When the sliding member(7) is rotating, no clearance is generated because the elastic portion(61) of an elastic member(6) pushes the sliding member(7) to outwards and a wear due to friction is compensated, thereby making no vibration and noise.
