CHIROINOSITOL OR PINITOL AS PREVENTION AND TREATMENT AGENT FOR CATARACT AND COMPOSITION THEREOF

PURPOSE: Provided are a novel use of chiroinositol or pinitol as a prevention and treatment agent for cataract and a composition thereof. The chiroinositol or pinitol is separated from soybeans, decreases blood glucose level and has few adverse effect and high stability. CONSTITUTION: The chiroinositol and its derivative, pinitol, principally exist in soybeans and display prevention and treatment effects on cataract. A pharmaceutical composition and a functional food or its composition contains, as an active ingredient, an appropriate amount of chiroinositol or pinitol which binds with pharmaceutically acceptable slat, a diluent or an excipient.
