摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surrounding vehicle detector capable of surely detecting other vehicle in existence around its own vehicle without being affected by a surrounding optical environment or the like. SOLUTION: The detector detects other vehicle in existence around its own vehicle includes; a camera 1 and an image processing section 2 for photographing the surrounding of its own vehicle to obtain a plurality of images within a prescribed time; a rotation part detection section 3 for applying DCT processing to a plurality of images and judging it that an image part is a rotating part when a particular regular change exists in a DCT coefficient; and an other-vehicle position prediction section 4 for predicting the position of other vehicle on the basis of a position of the rotation part. Since the detector detects by detecting a frequency change on a frequency region of the DCT coefficient to detect the rotating part (tire of other vehicle), this detector has an advantage of hardly receiving external optical disturbance in comparison with a conventional method of directly comparing a difference from an edge intensity or luminance.
