PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent processing from being stopped before and after a change point when the format of stream data is changed on the way when transmitting these stream data on the network of IEEE1394 system or the like. SOLUTION: When the stream data outputted from first equipment are to be received by second equipment through the prescribed network, when changing the stream data outputted from the first equipment from contents A of the first format to contents B of the second format, after the contents A are completely outputted, the invalid data of the same format as the contents B are outputted, and during the output of these invalid data, the first equipment investigates the state of the second equipment (steps S11-S14). When it is detected that the input of the stream data of the second format is prepared, the output of the contents B of the second format is started.
