PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk clamper that clamps a recording disk medium so as to stably read information recorded on the recording disk medium with high accuracy. SOLUTION: The outer diameter of a turntable 14 of a disk clamper 10 is nearly equal to the outer diameter of a disk 22, and a disk press contact face 14a at the lower side is formed to be a horizontal face. Thus, the disk press contact face 14a can easily be processed and inspected and the processing accuracy of the disk press contact face 14a can easily be enhanced. The turntable 14 and a clamper 60 are supported by a rotary shaft 54 with a large diameter and the rotary shaft 54 is supported by bearings 64, 65 disposed at a position lower than an optical pickup 40. Thus, the turntable 14 and the clamper 60 can stably be rotated with respect to the optical pickup 40 at a high-speed. The optical pickup 40 can thus detect information recorded on the disk 22 almost without being affected of vibration by the turning of the turntable 14.
