PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a detection area of a non-contact IC card constant by a reader/writer in a non-contact IC card system, for example. SOLUTION: In the reader/writer constructed by connecting a communication processing part and an antenna together via a cable, a signal transmitted without any contact from the non-contact type IC card is received via the antenna and inputted to the communication processing part via the cable, and the communication processing part detects data based on a multiplication result of the inputted receipt signal and a signal having the same frequency as the carrier wave frequency of the receipt signal. In this process, a cable phase change quantity correcting means shown in a figure gives a phase changing quantity to a signal transmitted through the cable for correcting the phase change quantity given by the cable so that a detection level of the data based on the multiplication result in the communication processing part reaches a predetermined level.
