PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that a conventional data recorder has caused a user to feel a workload accompanying conversion between the MPEG-TS form and the MPEG-PS form. SOLUTION: A video audio recorder is provided with; an encode section 8 for generating data of a program stream (PS) form on the basis of data of a TS form received externally; and a recording medium input output section 3 that records (a) received data of a transport stream (TS) form onto a recording medium 4, records (b) generated data of a PS form onto the recording medium 4, and records (c) recorded data of the PS form onto the recording medium 4.
