PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire a line signal having more exact position information. SOLUTION: Signal charges are obtained by receiving light and performing photoelectric transfer with a long CCD sensor unit 20 composed of a plurality of linearly arranged CCD sensors 10A, 10B and 10C while mutually overlapping terminals 11A' and 11B and terminals 11B' and 11C of adjacent CCD sensors across the linear direction. When reading these signal charges by binning them respectively in the linear direction with binning register parts 33A, 33B and 33C, the line signal is acquired by mutually matching, binning and reading the position of one unit of light receiving pixels to apply binning in the linear direction in the terminals of the adjacent CCD sensors.
